When I got home I had a message on my answer machine. He said it was a tax attorney, used my first and last name, and said that it was imperative for me to call him back before 5pm. The number was private on the caller ID, so I don’t have the number. This really freaks me out for some reason. Why woud a tax attorney contact me?
I’m 22, my dad always does my taxes on turbo tax. Would this be about a bounced check? I was evicted from my apartment last month, would it be about that?
Any information is greatly appreciated, maybe something to help my nerves.
Thanks in advance.
Okay, I’m a little more at ease now. It just scares me that he used the word “imperative” and he had my first and last name, how would he get that? I didn’t think a tax attorney would care about an eviction, but then I got paranoid that maybe I bounced a check or something.
Thanks for the advice

If your situation makes it such that it appears that you might be having tax troubles, a tax attorney might be advertising his/her services to you (although the way you describe the call, if that’s what it is, I wouldn’t hire him or her due to the scummy way they marketed to you).
A tax attorney would only be contacting you if your tax checked bounced, and a tax attorney wouldn’t care whether or not you were evicted.
I’m guessing its some scum-sucking marketing scheme to try to locate people who MIGHT have tax problems and sucker them into hiring that law firm. I’d ignore the call and not give it a second thought. If you have REAL tax issues, you’ll be getting a LETTER from the IRS.

It’s a SCAM! Do NOT return the @$$hole’s call!
No “tax attorney” would ever have reason to cold call you, and the IRS NEVER initiates contact by phone. The private number on caller ID pretty much seals the deal that this is a SCAM.

DwAa hit it on the nose! Just a scare tactic by a not very bright person to get you to call so they can scam you out of money!
Thumbs up DwAa!
Don’t worry, relax!
Forgot to say, I got a call just like this last week, and I reported it to the phone company fraud/scam line.
