How does the IRS investigate tax evasion if someone has been paid cash their not reporting?

18 Jul

If you turn someone in to the IRS for tax evasion when they’ve been paid with cash, does the IRS investigate bank records, etc to see if income amounts exceed the amount reported on income taxes?

if someone owns a company but hasn’t filled 06 tax return yet, how do you verify thier income?

27 Jun

I think someone is commiting tax fraud and a child support scam. He owns his own construction company and is claiming he is goingunder financially. On the contrary, his company was able to build him his personal 4 bdroom home, purchase a 2007 dodge heavy duty deisel truck when his last truck was only an 05 running fine, paid $10,000 for a trip to Mexico from company funds, and paid $25,000 of his companies money for criminal lawyers for a child molest case against him. How do I prove his company is being used as his personal piggy bank and that its actually turning over a profit and not in debt. It may be in debt but ony because he spends it. any suggestions?

Can someone explain to me again exactly how tax relief to upper tier income individuals expands our economy?

25 Jun

I’m lost in the concept of how freeing up more money for upper income folks to invest expands our economy and creates jobs.
People who invest money do so where they get the greatest returns. The greatest returns are in countries with expanding economies, like China. Why invest in America with an economy expanding at a 4% rate when you can earn 4 times as much in the Chinese economy, which is expanding at a 12% rate.
Exactly how does this benefit our economy? How does giving upper income people more money to invest overseas create more jobs here?
Why is it less beneficial to give the middle class, who are likely to spend their money within the USA, a tax break?

Can a defense attorney file criminal charges against someone for non-payment of final bill?

15 Jun

My husband has an outstanding balance of $500 to his defense attorney for services he received last year. I am the actual person who signed the paperwork as he was incarcerated at the time. I received a phone call from the attorney’s secretary yesterday and was told that if I did not pay the balance by the end of the week that they were going to file criminal charges against me complete with a police report. Can they do that? I would think that would fall under a civil suit instead of criminal.

Roth IRA’s and 401k plans……can someone please help?

09 Jun

I have 2 questions….

1. Is it possible to transfer whatever I have in my 401k plan into
starting up a Roth IRA? I left the company where I left a 401k
a few years back, no longer with them. So I’ll have to track
them down and see the stutus of the account.

2. What is the minimum amount required to start up a Roth
IRA?

I would really appreciate all professional feedback.
Have an excellent day everyone!
Dave

Tax: Can you give over $10K tax-free to someone if you give the amount over $10K in the form of investments?

26 May

I’m operating under the assumption that you can only give $10K tax-free per year. Please also tell me if my assumption is wrong. Sorry for the stupid question, but I’m not a tax lawyer.

Can someone please explain what a ROTH IRA is?

19 May

I heard 401K’s & Roth IRA’s are the only 2 things the government does NOT consider when determining how much money i get for financial aide.

How would i go about getting one? Is there a minimum balance? Do i need to be employed through a company to open one? Is there penalties? Please be as specific as possible. Thanks

I want to sell product x to someone, do their taxes, and cash the check myself. Anyone know how to do this?

02 May

So the idea is to use the persons tax return as the method of payment.

I’m looking at TurboTax, etc.

Is this just a matter of the “buyer” signing a Power of Attorney?

I want the transaction to be complete at the filing stage. I do not want to have the “buyer” sign over the check.

Any known instruments for this?

Thank you all…
I like how this question turned into drugs.

Hahahahaha…some people are so closed minded!

Is there a new 2010 tax law regarding claiming someone else’s child/children?

01 May

Is it true that in 2010, if you claim someone else’s child on your tax return and that person receives medicaid or food stamp benefits, it will end their benefits? I was told this yesterday by a friend who said a tax preparation company informed her of this. (actually a loan company that does taxes)
