Can a defense attorney file criminal charges against someone for non-payment of final bill?
My husband has an outstanding balance of $500 to his defense attorney for services he received last year. I am the actual person who signed the paperwork as he was incarcerated at the time. I received a phone call from the attorney’s secretary yesterday and was told that if I did not pay the balance by the end of the week that they were going to file criminal charges against me complete with a police report. Can they do that? I would think that would fall under a civil suit instead of criminal.
Does a person need to file a tax return if they did not have income?
I left my corporate job in 2004 to start my own business. I did not have any income to report in 2004 or 2005 as my expenses were more than my revenue. Did I need to file a tax return? I was told I did not. I have also heard that a person can file a zero tax return. What is the best way?

My dad dies this year. I need to file his taxes but don’t know any of his employment info. What do I do?
I have no clue as to what I am supposed to do for this and can’t really afford an attorney. I know one general location of his employment for last year, but can’t find anything because every place I go online wants me to pay for a background check. HE’S MY DAD!!! He did get one paycheck after he died, but it was sent to his ex girlfriend’s house and she is no good because she never even gave it to me.
He didn’t have a will or anything and I am his only child, he was not married.
