as when a mortgage co. returns your pmt and won’t tell you why

What happens to the attorney, will I get some sort of reimbursement for fees paid to the attorney, I have filed a grievance and the attorney was found neglible. What happens now?
The attorney grievance committee said that my attorney was with out a doubt negligent.
My attorney also contacted me and asked me to withdraw the complaint, which the grievance committee said makes mine a “hotter ” case.

I have been working for a small company for the last 6 months, tying to fix the last 4 years of tax issues. The previous bookkeeper worked there for 15 years the last 4 years were not great, she never filed or paid sales and use tax, I did all the filing and of course being that 4 years of no payments it just about doubled the amount owed. He owes about 125,000.00 in back taxes. He knows its his fault he should have checked her work. The state was at his house last week and took his work truck. They also said they sent everything to attorney general office. I called them and they are willing to set up payment plan which is nice. The tax man said if he walks away from is mortgage, and closed his business they would shelve the file and not ask for any money until he got back on his feet..He worried about the house but The house has tax liens on it. I’m stuck in the middle, He has been to a few lawyers who don’t want to help because it state taxes..any advice would be nice..
I dont think I am responsible to fix his problem, but he came to me for some kind of help..

I know that I’m liable for all taxes regardless of who prepares the forms. It seems to me that if I help them (the IRS) I hurt myself, although they say that I am not under investigation. What do you think?

I am going to have to go through bankruptcy and I have no idea how to check to find a good attorney. Can any one help me?

Phil, an enrolled agent, prepares William’s income tax return. William gives Phil power of attorney, including the authorization to receive his federal income tax refund check. Accordingly, the IRS sends William’s $100 refund check to Phil’s office. William is very slow in paying his bills and owes Phil $500 for tax services. Phil should

a. Use William’s check as collateral for a $100 loan to tide him over until William pays him.
b. Refuse to give William the check until William pays him the $500.
c. Get William’s written authorization to endorse the check, cash the check, and reduce the amount William owes him to $400.
d. Turn the check directly over to William.

My husband’s ex-wife has not followed the court’s orders outlined in their settlement agreement. She has not given him half of the family photos, she has not paid the taxes on the home that they still own together, because it just hasn’t sold yet, she didn’t put that house on the market by the deadline that the court gave her, she does not follow the rules of our insurance, yet expects us to pay half of the charges incurred due to going out of network ($150 instead of $25), she is constantly trying to poison the children against their father, etc., etc. She knows she is in contempt, and she doesn’t think he will take her to court, since we can’t afford an attorney. Anyway, does anybody know how we can get forms and detailed instructions on how to do this on our own? The goal is not to get her fined or arrested. The goal is just to get her to obey the court, like my husband does each month when he writes her a check for $725…even though the kids live with us 1/2 the time.

I haven’t worked since last February, but I have been a full-time student since then. My husband is in the military, and I highly, highly doubt he will help pay for any attorney I’ll get or court fees, even if a judge orders him to. We have no children, we’ve already agreed that whatever property we brought into the marriage, we will take it back. (Meaning he gets the tv and computers he bought, I get the car I bought, etc). I know a divorce is pricey, and we want a divorce, but I, myself, can’t afford it. Any ideas?

I need to replace my friends attorney.(with his permission) I live in another state and have no idea how to check on lawyers to see if they are any good…the one my friend has know , turns out to be a bankruptcy lawyer and knows zip about criminal law or just doesn’t give a hoot….either way, we need to replace him! How and where do I get backround info on lawyers?

I was recently accepted into law school and I plan on attending this upcoming fall (Fall 2010).

My question is about life as an attorney at a major corporate firm (something like a Fulbright & Jaworksi).

What is it like working as a new associate at those types of firms? What does it take for a person to make partner? I understand that you have to be a good attorney and put in a lot of hours, but is that it?

The father of my kids is currently incarcerated for violating his probation. he received his w-2 forms the day he was booked. I was planning to have his taxes done for him by someone I know but what should I do about his signature? Should I get him to give me power of attorney to sign his name, just to be on the safe side?
